rtl_tcp SDR

rtl_tcp SDR is an RTL-SDR Software Defined Radio receiver app designed specifically for iOS devices. With this app, users can listen to various radio signals, including AM, FM, SSB, and CW. The app also provides a visual representation of the RF spectrum and waterfall.

To use rtl_tcp SDR, an external rtl_tcp server is required. Since iOS devices do not support direct USB connections, the app relies on network access to a server, such as a Raspberry Pi or Mac, with an RTL-SDR unit connected via USB. The rtl_tcp protocol is used to establish a TCP/IP connection between the server and the iOS device, allowing the server to act as a USB port adapter.

In addition to rtl_tcp, the app can also connect to other tcp servers such as hfp_tcp for the Airspy HF+, rsp_tcp for SDRPlay devices, and lmm_tcp for the LimeSDR Mini. No support is provided for installing these servers, so users should only download the app if they are already familiar with Software Defined Radio and have the necessary hardware and software setup.

Please note that rtl_tcp SDR requires a high bandwidth network connection to receive real-time RF samples from an RTL-SDR. It is recommended to have the rtl_tcp server on a wired connection for optimal performance.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
